About Cathy Rodwell MEd CHT HH Dip (A.Th)
Cathy understands the value of creativity, weaving it through her work over the years as a teacher, counsellor and art therapist to help others on their journey toward self expression and personal insights. She is currently completing further art studies at the Milan Art Institute, having enjoyed classes over the years at university and developing her skills by training with local and international artists. Cathy has exhibited in galleries and for many years specialised in commissions for portraits of people and pets. She also has experience in book illustration. Shaped by a deep connection to nature from growing up on a rural property, Cathy has a strong appreciation for the quiet beauty of the natural world. She enjoys drawing in graphite, along with mixed media, painting in acrylic, oil and watercolour. Her passion is to help others to get the best from life encouraging them to slow down their fast paced lifestyles. Why miss so much of what life has to offer? Relaxation is such a valuable part of self-care, and that single moment of art appreciation may give inspiration and support at a deep level.
When asked about her choice of topics, Cathy says " All things alive! My paintings are inspired by my love of animals and nature . I enjoy working in mediums to evoke a mood. Vivid colours are amazing when you need a lively focal point to bring your subject to life."
